Skobee Snacks

by Ryan Lane on March 9, 2006

This skobee thing looks interesting. It’s sort of like evite or that terrible triphub thing.

It does suffer from the possibility of being yet another social network service. There are too many to keep track of but at least this is more like dodgeball in that it’s about getting people together in the real world by both using it as a group planning tool and an announcement tool to people what you are doing. Unlike dodgeball which is focuses on the location you are currently at this is more in advance. They do have a simple email interface though to send out announcements.

The real test will be with user adoption. I’m going to give it a try.

update: Who knew anyone actually read my blog? Since they asked and to be fair to Triphub I should post that I think their idea is really good. Their current site doesn’t seem to reflect the vision though. The current set of tools is too limited. I want to see expanded though. I would use if it solved the challenges of planning a large group trip. Having a place for business, organization, school, etc would be helpful. Especially if the information provided details on group discounts and events appropriate for the specific size of the group. Having helped with organizing a company showing at E3, I found myself often wondering why there wasn’t a better way.
